Essential Job Functions: | Essential Job Functions: 1. To teach scheduled swimming classes as assigned 2. To teach children and adults ages 6 months and older to swim in accordance with American Red Cross standards. 3. To teach those with special needs as required. 4. To create a set of learning objectives and outcomes for each class. 5. To be present and accountable for all scheduled classes. To be set-up and "ready-to-teach" 10 minutes prior to the start of each class. 6. To be identifiable as a NSU employee by wearing assigned uniform and/or nametag. 7. To ensure that all equipment and accessories associated with performing swimming instruction is in safe and working condition. 8. To assist in ensuring and monitoring the safety and cleanliness of the swimming pool and related amenities. 9. To assist in making certain that all class participants are formally registered and have paid all registration fees. 10. To assist in making certain all participants are wearing proper bathing attire. 11. To communicate accurate information regarding office operations and programs to university students, faculty, staff, affiliates, alumni, recruits, and vendors. 12. To attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings and training programs. 13. To conduct other relevant administrative tasks and duties as assigned. |
Marginal Job Functions: | 1. Ability to orally communicate effectively with others, with or without the use of an interpreter. 2. Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English Language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids and services. 3. Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staffs at all levels. 4. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties. 5. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboards, and telephones. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: | |
Job Requirements: | Must be currently certified as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. |
Required Certifications/Licensures: | American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. |
Required Education: | High School Diploma, GED or high school student at least 16 years of age |

Required Experience: | Must be an American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor. |
